Photographing the animals we share our world with is both a joy and a challenge. In this project based course, your instructor begins with sharing her experience and passion for photographign creatures that can sometimes be unpredictable but always fascinating. Through a combination of field trips, assignments, discussions and critiques you explore the modern genres of animal photography with emphasis on originality, vision and finding the humanity within your non-human subjects. Assignments focus on recognizing and choosing different approaches- from portrait and documentary to editorial and educational- culminating with a self determined final project, all of which leads you to a better understanding of how to create meanignful images of our finned, furred and feathered neighbors.
