Please join us for the opening reception of photography by Traer Scott. This is a special event at the Gail Cahalan Gallery, as 10% of the sales that day will benefit the Providence Animal Rescue League. Traer Scott will be available to sign copies of her latest book, "Street Dogs" and her previously published, "Shelter Dogs." Both best selling books will be available for purchase, but please reserve your copy today to ensure availability.

The Exhibition

The gallery exhibit will feature photographs from the critically acclaimed Street Dogs and Shelter Dogs book series. The exhibit celebrates Traer Scott's masterful photography and devotion to the plight of unwanted dogs. Scott will be recognized for her efforts as the next recipient of the Helen Woodward Humane Award to be presented, July 2008. The gallery is pleased to present this nationally recognized photographer and raise awareness and funds for this cause. Join the gallery for this very special event along with the Providence Animal Rescue League and Edgewoof Bakery of Cranston in honoring Providence's own Traer Scott.

Scott's black and white photographic images are iconic, dramatic, beautiful, revealing a character study of the street dogs, showing their spirit and soul at times. Often touching an emotional nerve, the series draws attention to the plight of stray animals and at the same time one can see the inner spirit of these creatures, creating almost a human dimension.

It is a showcase of the life of dogs on the street celebrating the wonderful moments of character and the environment they must survive in.
